Atlantic marlins
Blue marlin is the largest of Atlantic marlins. It belongs to the species M.nigricans and genus Makaira. It is mainly found in Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Females are almost four times heavier than the male marlins. Marlins can reach up to a maximum of 14 feet in length and 900 kilograms in weight. They have two dorsal and anal fins and twenty four vertebrae. Short fin mako and the great white shark are the main predators of this blue marlin. The average life span of blue marlin is 27 years. Blue marlin has very good commercial value throughout the world especially in Japan.
